My comments on tutoring Public Relations : I have a BS in communications/PR and have corporate comm/PR experience.

I have experience teaching at a two-year university and a two-year college, in composition, communications, and public speaking. I have also run an educational non-profit that works with students to set college and career goals. I hold a PhD in Educational Leadership. Education is my passion, and I would love to help local students excell!
I believe in working with students, not talking at them. I ask lots of questions and make sure students retain the information and can apply it to the real world.

In the summer time during my undergraduate career I worked as a camp counselor and coach in Colorado for children from the ages of 6-18. After completion of my BA I coached at my alma-mater. From there I decided to pursue my graduate education and took a scholarship in the althetic department at the University of Arkansas where I became an academic advisor for the football team for 4 years. In the summers during my graduate career I worked for Sylvan Learning centers. I began as an English teacher and filled in on Math when they were short handed. What I have discovered about myself is that I learn differently from other people. I am the kind of person who prefers to set aside that assembly instruction manual and put together that Christmas toy by laying out the pieces in an orderly fashion. There is so much pleasure in problem solving. I learn by asking myself questions. I have little patience for mundane drills and memorization if they can be avoided. Each child is different. It is meaningless to say that a child is intelligent. There are many kinds of intelligences. Some children are more intelligent in memorization. Others are intelligent in solving problems. It is best to discover the child's strengths and weaknesses and adapt a program to each and every child.

As an adult graduate of a local university, I believe that everyone has their own learning style. Not every teacher recognizes that students learn differently, and I have been successful helping others with hands-on, re-teaching, and verbal skills.
