I have tutored fellow students while I was in college in mathematics, chemistry and physics. I have a love and great appreciation of mathematics and all that is involved with it. I have tutored high school students in math, I have tutored college graduates for the math portion of the GRE, and have also tutored non-traditional students in mathematics. I have earned my degree from Ohio University. My degree has opened my eyes to the beauty of mathematics. I enjoy teaching adults as well as high school students. I do not have much training teaching below junior high; however, I am confident that I could successfully teach math or language. Although, I don't mind the traditional classroom setting, I am quite used to instructing on a one-to-one basis. Our GED programs are completely individualized for learners to move at their own pace, and I encourage this type of teaching style when manageable. Many of the students/adults that I have worked with have a learning disability of some sort, but I feel that I learn from each student just as much as they are learning from me. Being in college for four years exposed me to social environments that I normally wouldn't have been able to encounter on a day to day basis. Whether I was learning on my own, working with or helping fellow classmates, or even just observing how the professors worked with us, I was always learing new concepts or methods of how to interact with a wide variety of characteristics in a diverse group of people. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with a degree in Physical Science Education, which gives me a strong background in Physical Sciences and in math. I have worked with children and youth of all age levels and nearly every ability. I ran an afterschool program for the Salvation Army, ran a boys home for troubled boys and worked in St. Paul City schools as a substitute teacher and a night teacher at an evening school. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and helping students understand mathematics. Math can be challenging, but when it is finally understood it can be extremely rewarding. I firmly believe that the key to mastering math is by repetition of examples rather than by studying complex theories.
