I have 13 years of classroom teaching experience. I have taught in various elementary setting including urban, suburban, and rural populations. I have taught in very large classrooms with 31 students in them and very small classrooms with only 3 students in them. In addition to teaching in the classroom I have also lead professional development on writing, how to disaggregate standardized assessments, student engagement, and on the reading comprehension strategies.

I achieved an English degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where my senior thesis was selected as a finalist for the UW Creative Writing prize. I am passionate about the English language, but I think that writing is becoming a lost art. Quality writers are quality communicators. As writing in general falls into disrepair, those who can write clearly and read critically will have an edge in every institution they enter--from the University, all the way to the workplace.
I enjoy hands-on teaching and one-on-one interaction with students. Good writing can simplify the thought process, and leads to students becoming better thinkers and communicators. This created an apathetic attitude towards the subject. Due to the lack of interest that I observed, I decided to go through problem by problem with the students.
