A Little Bit About Me...

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in journalism from Oswego State University. While in school I studied psychology and child development as well as great works of literature. I have always had a knack for grammar and spelling and I enjoy proofreading documents and helping others to develop their ideas. I am familiar with many books in literary canon and I am interested in reading other books that teachers are including in their curriculum.
Although I have no formal teaching experience, I do have been developing my teaching style for many years while I worked with the developmentally disabled. I learned to identify a teachable moment, which is a time at which the student would be most receptive to learning. I have always had a passion for education. Coming from a large family, I was always helping my younger siblings with their homework and teaching "school" in my mom's study on the weekends. I attended the rigorous International Baccalaureate program at my high school and moved away from home to attend a prestigious liberal arts college. After graduating from Smith College in May I moved to Boston to work at a public charter high school where I worked with a large and diverse student population. I taught a reading class and a Spanish class, coached the co-ed soccer team, and tutored students in several classes, including AP courses.
