I am generously patient and prefer to teach from the ground up, disallowing missed information or misunderstanding. I understand that all children can learn, but they also learn at different paces, in different ways, and at different times of the day. As I learn through audio, visual, and tactile, I can teach to those strengths as well. I am patient and easy going as long as the student tries to understand what is being taught to them. I like to see the people I work with succeed and enjoy teaching.
Throughout all of my academic career, I have never been paid for helping other students-my friends-with their homework. Yet, I have still done it when they asked. My teaching style is to discover what each student needs to learn in order to be successful. I teach in a way that is most effective with that student. I have found that students can make rapid progress when they have an opportunity to fill in the gaps of their skills and knowledge. Over the years, I have learned many strategies to help students acquire the skills they need. I help students to build on their strengths as they overcome their academic weaknesses. I have also learned that students learn more quickly when the lesson is interesting to them, so I choose reading material for a lesson with that in mind. I find that students truly enjoy their lessons, because they gain confidence and realize that they are able to be successful.
