I have a solid background in Math and tutoring kids from birth to college. I prefer tutoring using the "Coach approach" oppose to the "Expert approach". As a coach, I would focus on the student learning. By sharing my knowledge with the student, get my student to do his or her work and thinking and make sure the student engage in deep processing - thoroughly understanding the meaning behind what they're studying. I will ask questions to get the student to think deeply about they're learning. In addition, keep my teaching sessions interesting by learning students preference to learn such as (visual or listening). Then in my teaching sessions coach my student to develop note taking skills (i.e. flash cards) because it helps the student think about and process what he or she is listening to.
