I believe in life long learning and I encourage children to apply themselves to do their very best.I also encourage children to determine what their best learning style is and to apply their learning style to fit their specific needs. For example some children require a more sequential repetitive approach to learning. Other children require a system in which they practice what they know through an oral approach or a hands on approach to learning. I am currently teaching remedial reading and Math at Mary Immaculate School located in Key West grades k-8 I have taught bilingual students I have also taught high school level students, Biology, Math, Language Arts, Spanish and fine arts My 20 years of experiences has allowed me to work in urban schools, rural schools and in private schools. I have most recently been trained to teach Adults through Literacy of America as a volunteer.

My first major mentoring/teaching experience occurred in college when I began leading study groups and eventually organizing tutoring sessions with a number of my fellow English, Calculus, and Physics students. I then obtained a position as a youth counselor with the YMCA and quickly moved up to Site Coordinator where I was in charge of my own after school care group, including being in charge of organizing activities and managing youth counselors. Most recently I underwent PADI Divemaster training where I had real world experience teaching and assisting PADI Open Water students with classroom, confined water, and open water training. My style tends to range based on who I am trying to teach, and I suppose is most accurately labeled as adaptive. Effective communication with students has two dimensions that can be addressed: stimulating students' interest in and engagement with the course material by making it relevant to their lives that evoke their interest and appropriately challenge them. As an instructor I am providing a student with the knowledge, concepts and skills which enhance their academic goals. How to best demonstrate these competencies will vary from individual to individual. What is important is that I consciously set out to do so, both in the selection of materials to include, and in my explanations of why and how those materials were used.
