My style tends to range based on who I am trying to teach, and I suppose is most accurately labeled as adaptive. I understand that different people learn things in different ways, and so I try to accommodate that with my teaching. For instance if I found that a student learns better visually then I would attempt to use visual cues and examples in lesson plans to make the material as easy to understand as possible. I also believe in keeping a very loose and pleasant atmosphere, and making sure that everyone feels comfortable and safe, which I believe also assists in the learning process. My first major mentoring/teaching experience occurred in college when I began leading study groups and eventually organizing tutoring sessions with a number of my fellow English, Calculus, and Physics students. I then obtained a position as a youth counselor with the YMCA and quickly moved up t

My philosophy does not guarantee that individuals will be better thinkers or students, but I believe it provides a valuable base to help them think more clearly. It has always involved both the world of ideas (theory) and the world of practical activity (real-world scenarios), resulting in an integration of good ideas (theory) that can lead to good practices (real-world scenarios), and good practices that can lead to good ideas. It’s designed around a framework - a methodology for keeping on track and maintaining responsibility to protect the institution, the students, fellow colleagues, and the community. It’s a code - intended to clarify my mission, values and principles linking them with standards of professional conduct. Effective communication with students has two dimensions that can be addressed: stimulating students' interest in and engagement with the course material by makin

Teaching by example with the use of hands-on experience and exercises is the best method for learning the actual practice of accounting. Text books teach only very basic theory and are not as useful for practice as it eists in the real world. The studennts must understand theory but must also learn how to apply that theory to real situations and understand when to be creative within the practice. I prefer to attempt to use examples and illustrate situations that the students are likely to encounter in real life rather than a text book ideal. This method will mean much more to a student attempting to make sense out of real practice as opposed to a sample that most likely doesn't exist in the real world. As a senior and after graduation, I tutored accounting students in order to assist with the understanding of accounting principles. I have spent many years training entry level accountants
