I am in my sixth year of teaching high school mathematics in Rural West Tennessee. I am currently teaching Geometry, and I have also taught Algebra 1 and Bridge Math. I am certified and highly qualified to teach all content areas for Grades 9-12, as well as middle school mathematics. While I was working on my masters degree, I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant for The Reading Center at The University of Tennessee at Martin. I am a stickler for proper sentence structure, grammar, and spelling; I believe that a command of written English can open doors in life which appeared previously to be intractably sealed, and can create either employment or advancement opportunities which might not otherwise have been possible. An obvious example is how a well-written resume and cover letter will many times make all the difference in whether or not you find yourself in front of the interviewer. I graduated from the University of Memphis in December 2005. During my time at the U of M, I tutored college level math courses. I took Calculus I, II, & III and did well in all three. Math is my passion and I aspire to share that passion by helping students through tutoring. During my experience as a tutor, I like dealing with the type of student who is willing to learn and put forth an effort. I like to show students how to solve the problem and then give them an opportunity to display what they have learned. Math is a difficult subject and it is important to learn the dynamics step by step. I would prefer to help the student who wants to learn and retain versus the crammer who wants to try to learn everything the night before a test. I have been involved in higher education since my 2nd year of college.
