I am passionate about teaching. I prefer teaching foreign language through a hands-on approach. Everyone is capable of learning, we just have to find their learning style. With foreign language, I use flashcards, simple songs and interesting stories to incorporate the language. My goal is to get the student to retain the language, not just memorize it. Coming from the influence of a family of educators, I realized early on my affinity towards teaching. In addition to my college degrees, I have been very involved in the 'summer camp' experience. For my first experience in teaching, I worked with both high school and elementary school students who were learning disabled and in need of help. I used the Orton-Gillingham method for dyslexia and found that it really seemed to work well to suit the student’s needs. From there I went on to work two years in resource rooms working with middle school and high school students in a one-on-one and group setting for intense tutoring.
