My style is age-appropriate: I modify my approach to accommodate age, learning level, personality and a combination of abilities and interests. My philosophy is that it is the instructor that should make adjustments on behalf of the student, not the other was around. Any good teacher can accommodate any student with the ability to understand people.

I prefer that the student understands the purpose behind learning. In order to achieve my goal, I spend quality time in talking and developing an effective communication platform. A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring people when I was in the eigth grade. I decided I wanted to help out at the school across the street from my middle school in Colorado. I enrolled in a class that allowed us to go and assist the teachers and help the students. I fell in love with kids then for sure. I already knew I liked them because I started babysitting when I was 11 and couldn't stop! Then in ninth grade, a neighbor failed kindergarten and asked if I would starting coming over several days a week to help him understand what was being taught. Needless to say, he made it to the first grade! I now have a 17 year old sister who is constantly asking for my assistance in her homework and it is with great pleasure that I assist her.

As a graduate of Texas Southern University, where excellence is our motto, I was driven to acheive excellence in biology. I earned my BS in Biology in December of 2009, which has enabled me to gain understanding in science and math. I have also learned during my time at TSU to write and gain skills in writing due to writing lab reports and many essays along the way. A Little Bit About Me...

After finishing my undergraduate work, I served in the Peace Corps for over two years. During this time I worked with various groups in the areas of elementary education tutoring, ESL for children and adults, and small-business training. When I finished the Peace Corps I was awarded a scholarship/fellowship to Duquesne University, where I completed my Master's degree. During this time I worked half-time with a nonprofit. At the end of my fellowship this nonprofit offered me a teaching job in conjunction with West Virginia University.
