My comments on tutoring Drawing : I like to encourage my students to challenge themselves creatively and draw their own designs that they are going to paint. However, traditionally Decorative Painters use patterns to lay down their design and we have numerous books and patterns for students to choose from at the studio so NO DRAWING SKILLS ARE NECESSARY in any of my classes or workshops.

I am a relaxed teacher. I love to help student's explore what they'd like to learn or paint. I offer as much or as little direction as a student needs. I like to challenge my students to paint works that may be just a bit beyond what they think they are capable of because they always surprise themselves. Painting is nourishing. It is a privilege to teach and watch how it enriches lives!
I have 27 years of painting and teaching experience. I am an Assistant Professor at MCC whre I teach in Health Education. I have taught in numerous places and with numerous populations including at BOCES, Penfield and Perinton Recreation Dept's, Michaels Crafts, Catholic Family Center, and currently at my own studio (Hope In Art Studio, Frpt NY).

Drawing is one of my top subjects! BFA in design with life time of drawing experience.

1 1/2 years experience teaching English as a Second Language to teens through professionals in Ningbo, China. Bachelors Degree requiring proficiency in drawing techniques including free-hand and drafting; 6 years practical experience as well. 10 years of experience creating resumes for students, young professionals and intermediate level professionals. Writing continuously recognized throughout 4 years of high school and 3 years of college. 4 years college prep honors courses, 3 years of liberal arts college and 4 years of art college have given me a variety of fool-hardy study practices and skills. Studying doesn't have to be difficult or boring.
Varies according to temperment and learning style of student. Always interactive.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a literacy volunteer I was awakened to a deep desire to achieve my degree in a career in the helping profession. This profession opened doors for a career change in education. I embraced the challenges of a teacher/professor for students ranging from kindergarten to senior citizens, both in the class room setting and one-on-one tutoring in the home settings and community programs. Teaching continues to be the common thread that binds my life experiences with the core person I continue to grow into.
I love working with people of all ages and from a verity of cultures in an educational setting. I firmly believe that every person can learn but that each person has a dominate and secondary learning style of their own. In order to enhance learning for the student, I enjoy the challenge of developing and implementing lesson plans to match the students learning style. My teaching ... read more

Education stands atop my own list of the most important plights of mankind. I believe people are at their highest capacity for learning when they are children, and that such open minds should be given the resources to grow and educate themselves. I am very patient and persistent in my methods. I think teaching is an art of framing the student's mind so that they find themselves more engaged in the world through expression and description of it from the human language perspective (whether numerical or verbal). I get along well with kids and as long as the student I am working with has an attitude of openness, I am sure that it will be a successful, possibly even fun, experience.
As a Cornell graduate, I have had the opportunity be lectured by academic experts spanning a wide variety of disciplines, and have experienced many different teaching styles. I have worked as a course assis ... read more

The following is my personal philosophy of education: I believe that all children have the to ability to learn. A student's curriculum should be integrated with multiple-intelligences in mind. It is crucial for students to be able to make personal connections in their learning. Good teaching means engaging students in meaningul dialogue, text and their lives. Literacy should be encouraged and demeonstrated as a life long process. A successful learning environment must be safe, caring and respectful.
As a non-traditional, graduate of Nazareth of Rochester, it has become very clear why an excellent education is clearly the only way to achieve autonomy, which I believe is crucial to all. I earned my dual-certification and Bachelor's Degree in Regular Education and Special Education. Because my own son had learning disabilities, I earned my Master's in Reading. I like working with children. They are so appreciative and excited when they learn and figure out a new word or anything. I am easy going and very supportive. GIven a good learning atmosphere, good support, encouragement and enthusiasm and children can learn. Everyone learns in different ways; in a one-on-one situation that can be discovered and lessons designed to best help the child.
I finished my degree by going to summer and night school; I graduated in 1979. I was the first in my family to go to college and I am very proud of that. I have become a much better writer and am much more aware of grammar through writing reports, technical papers and SOPs. For a couple of years I volunteered for Literacy Volunteers because of my love of reading.

A Little Bit About Me...

My philosophy around human learning and knowledge retention involves relationships. Human beings are connected to each other and to all wisdom. Establishing healthy and loving relationships with students and their families facilitates that all key players gain knowledge and are afforded the opportunity to develop deep understandings of concepts taught, increase retention time and improve retrieval. I embrace the National Boards for Professional Teaching Standards five core propositions. The first indicates that accomplished teachers know their students and know each of their students’s learning styles and needs. Adults responsible for children’s learning must make the effort to know all that might help them understand their students’ strengths and build on those strengths.
I have earned two Masters degrees in education as well as National Boards Certification. My GPA has been b ... read more

I have recently experienced the opportunity of graduating from my dream college this past summer at Yankee Stadium with my fellow NYU friends. I started working with children early in my college career as a soccer camp coach during my summers at University of Rochester. I have acquired great customer service through working with Wegmans for about two years as well. Starting my junior year in college I was given the chance to become involved with tutoring at a high school in Brooklyn, NY. I was mostly working with students after school and helping them work on their homework that dealt with areas such as Math, Science, and English.
While working with children in the high school in Brooklyn I have come up with a particular way for a student to become engaged in his work and to perform well. When a student has a question about a certain problem I usually perform the solution while he ... read more
