A Little Bit About Me...

My approach to teaching is more of a "why" approach. It is more important for students to know why something is or works rather than just how. This approach works well for middle and high school students. It allows students not only to understand the ideas taught but to apply them to other areas as well. I also like to use visual aids as well as conversation. I have found that many of us vary widely in learning styles. Some are visual learners, others are audio learners, and still others are a combination. I work well one-on-one but also enjoy small groups. I look forward to working with you or your children to produce results they can be proud of.

I have a Bachelors degree(Chemical Engr.) and Masters (Chemical Engr. with Environmental Engr thesis). I passionately pursued a consulting career in environmental engineering for over 20 years serving federal clients. I honed excellent technical writing and public speaking skills. Specifically, I needed to convey complex issues to a wide audience in simple words. I taught math and science to my niece and her friends all the way through their high school years.
