I have worked as a teacher on the Big Island, and spent over ten years as a volunteer trainer at public access television facilities in New York and Texas. I am currently seeking tutoring work as I complete the last year of my online "masters in elementary education" program. I have a bachelors in Psychology, and twenty years of working experience, 5 in supervisory positions. I can teach elementary and high school level work. In the past I have taught primarily science, media and reading/writing. I am current on modern tutoring methods and practices. During my Master's program at UCLA, I was exposed to different ways of teaching and believe that students learn in a variety of ways. I am open to trying different approaches and methods with students in order to utilize the most effective means of ensuring that students are learning and retaining new information. I prefer to establish a positive rapport with my students and to create an environment in which they are comfortable and willing to take risks and make mistakes during the learning process. I have earned two bachelor degrees which has given me the chance to motivate other youths and kids to seek the world and don't let it end with High school. There is more to life. Granting that Education is the key to success and without education there will be no sense of direction. I love working with kids. I believe that the kids are our future and if we adults don't help them grow up to be leaders and make better choices in their lives we will not have any sense of direction.
