I love math. I find it fun, challenging, and very interesting. When I tutor students, I try to portray my excitement for the subject so they see that it is not intimidating and so they are more willing to work to solve a problem. My hight school math teacher encouraged me by her passion and I have taken that into how I tutor and help others.
As a mathematics major, I worked in the math lab all four years of my college experience. I would tutor others with their math and help students study for exams. I have also tutored in junior high settings and this past summer I tutored a young girl in 7th grade math. I have also tutored while in high school.

I have held positions of CFO, controller, and divisional analyst which enabled me to gain extensive experience in the private sector of business and advanced technical skills in microsoft excel and various accounting systems. Presently, I am an adjunct instructor at teaching college algebra.
I enjoy teaching and believe that anyone can learn mathematics if given the proper help and assistance. I am very patient with students and find it rewarding to see them succeed in the their line of study. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is very subjective. Each individual learns according to his/her own style. What I find challenging and rewarding is to find that point where it “clicks”. I believe the best way to learn is through experience and discovery. As an example, I can describe the intelligence of an octopus. But until you actually see a video of one opening a jar for a treat, do you truly realize it as a thinking, planning being. I feel that teaching an individual how to use available resources is just as important as the actual subject. I always try to involve students in the lesson a great deal and to make sure that they are answering many questions throughout the lesson. This helps the student to be able to focus and learn and it helps me to know whether they understand. I like to use a variety of examples and demonstrations of the concepts and for students to try a few problems on their own.
