At our first session, I ask that each student complete a short quiz to determine their learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc). Every child learns differently and I believe that discovering what works best for each student is the first step towards success. Once we figure out what his/her learning style is, I cater to this. If they learn best by reading, I'll prepare worksheets based on what they're learning; if they're hands-on learners, I'll make an activity.
My experience with tutoring began in high school, when I started assisting elementary students with homework through one of my clubs. I have been teaching English and History education for three years. I have experience on the 7th, 8th 9th and 10th grade levels. My style of teaching is repetition of material focusing on specific areas where the student is having problems. One on one approach until the lesson is grasped by the student has proven to work more than group settings.
