I believe that learning and success are possible for all children, but they are the result of time and patience. I feel high expectations are important, yet I'm careful not to frustrate the lower achievers. If a teacher encourages learning and makes it worthwhile, I believe that the learning process will flourish. Children learn in different ways. Because all children deserve an equal chance to learn , it's my responsibility to meet these learning styles to the best of my ability. This is done by presenting material in a variety of ways, as well as incorporating hands-on experiences as much as possible. I graduated from high school in 2003 with honors and graduated in 2007 from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. Throughout my schooling I have attended multiple classes in reading/writing, science, history, computer/I.T., foreign language, creative arts, business and math. In my tutoring of students in reading and math, I have assessed each child and from the assessments I have build a program that address the child's needs. Some of the materials that I have used are project read materials, open court phonics,Linda Bell's materials. So, I have the greatest interest in finding areas that a child needs help with and then finding materials and methods to solve their problems.
I have taught elementary students for 27 years. I have taught 2nd-4th grades. I have done graduate work in reading and have obtained a reading minor.
