My comments on tutoring SAT - Verbal : I have excellent strategies for interpreting and analyzing reading passages, building vocabulary, and teaching sentence structure (for sentence completion). I also did quite well on the Verbal portion of the SAT, so my methods are tried and tested!

I am a patient and understanding teacher. I enjoy fostering close relationships with my students so that I can cultivate my methods to best suit their learning style.
I have a degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and have two years experience writing for the Daily Tar Heel. Each child learns differently so I try to explain in ways they can understand. I listen to what and how they need help and try to relate that to helping them understand better. I try to get them to discover the answers on their answer and feel comfortable with explaining how they got the answer.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a senior in the Education program at Appalachian State University. As an Elementary Education major, I have worked closely with children from many age levels. I have participated in an after-school tutor/mentor program at Appalachian State in 2008. In 2009, I completed two internships while in the Education Program. The plays were written around themes chosen by the camp director.
