I believe that most people learn best by doing; therefore, I am a very hands-on instructor.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in History, and a Master's Degree in English and Writing, both from Northern Michigan University. I have extensive experience in business communications and public speaking. I have taught English and Writing at the college level, and have also used my knowledge and experience to help elementary students succeed. I love helping others overcome obstacles to understanding, and showing them that they have the ability to do what they thought was impossible. I believe in building upon a solid foundation so that the student really learns and understands the concepts of a subject (and doesn’t just shoot for a passing grade). I like to discuss the material and include additional background information because that helps make the subject more interesting. A Little Bit About Me...

I adapt to the student. In my experience with several students is that they all need a different approach. I like to use examples to explain things to my students for example a video game or sports. I am a patient teacher but demand all of a student's attention.
My education and experience has led me all over the world providing companies with my skills as an analyst and consultant. After earning my BAs in English and History, I wanted to explore the world. A Little Bit About Me...

I have had about 30 yrs teaching experience in middle school, elementary school and pre-school settings. I have regularly tutored before and after school both individuals as well as groups. Most of my experience has been in the science and math areas with Algebra I being the highest math level I have taught. While pursuing my education degrees, I paid a lot of attention to child development as well as the thinking process. This has helped me to make sense of how a particular student is thinking and feeling so that I can find individual ways to help him/her progress.
