Life Science is one of my top subjects! Certified biology teacher with dual degrees in secondary education - biology and in animal science /. Pre-veterinary medicine. I have extensive background knowledge in a variety of biologically based classes such as genetics, anatomy & physiology, and ecology. I have also taught 9th grade biology and 7th & 8th grade general science.

My comments on tutoring Life Science : My education includes two degrees in the life sciences. My first one was animal science / pre-veterinary medicine. The second was secondary education with an emphasis in biology. I teach biology and have had plenty of experience in many of the biologically based sciences like ecology, genetics, and anatomy and physiology.

Bachelor's in secondary education with certification in biology. Bachelor's in animal science / pre-veterinary medicine. Taught general science to 7th and 8th graders for a year. I am a certified modeling teacher. Modeling is a "hands on" inquiry based style of teaching. I teach through allowing the students to deal with a given problem or scenario. I taught Swimming to children every summer for from 2001-2005, so I have experience with young children having a hard time paying attention. I have strong skills in science and math.

While I have no "official" teaching experience, I was frequently required to teach other members of the various teams I was on as well as people from other groups. This involved everything from tutorial presentations to a large and diverse group down to individual tutoring at the table in my office. Most people told me I was pretty good at it.
I first try to determine what level of knowledge my "students" had. Then, building on that, I would add layers until the group I was with understood the material. I would check with them frequently to make sure they understood what we just covered and I allowed questions at any time. If necessary, I would back up and try a different approach. My goal was to make sure they understood the material, whatever it took.
