I have been teaching ceramics and painting courses for over five years as well as creating the Apprentice Artist program where I teach from my home studio. I have worked with youth on public murals in pittsburgh and through the Frick Art and Historical Museum Summer Dreamers program. I currently instruct 1-6grade Montessori Art classes as well as various Museum education opportunities.

Successful Learning Begins With A Creative Mind

I went to college at Westminster College for Math then changed my major to Fine Arts. I am proficient in Math up to Calculus 2 and i can teach Art very well. I have tutoring experience through high school and i work well with high school students. I can tutor from my home or i can travel. A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience teaching many types of students. I worked one-on-one, daily, with an autistic student during my last position, so I understand that not every student learns in the same way. I think it works well to give shorter lessons to a small group, and then work individually with the students. I like to encourage them to help one another if they feel confident in the subject. I pay great attention to verifying that each student is following the lesson. My main teaching style is "I do, you do," meaning I show them how to do a problem, or spell a word, and then they show me how. I like to work with the parent and child on any goals they have for the year, while updating the parent and child on progress, problems, and behavior.
