Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I have over 40 years experience working with children and adolescents with dyslexia. I have a thriving private practice in Asheville and work closely with children and families as well as teaching through the Orton-Gillingham Approach. I have wanted to help others learn for as long as I can remember; even as early as the fourth grade I was helping my classmates with assignments. I have always loved learning and helping others to learn. I earned a BS in Psychology in college so I would have a better understanding of how the mind works and learns. I never turned a person down; if I did not know much about a subject I would research it. I even took a course that would teach me how to assist individuals with essays and research papers. I have tutored students in many subjects mostly focusing on psychology including many different areas such as introduction, statistics and experimental design. I obtained my licensure through NCTEACH in Specific Learning Disabilities. I am Highly Qualified by way of Praxis exam. I have taught grades 6-12 in almost all disability identifications primarily math and language arts; however, have supported various other subject areas.
