I was a substitute teacher for Wappingers Central School district from April 2013 to June 2014. I taught grades 6 - 12 for a variety of subjects including, but not limited to Social Studies, Spanish, English, Music, and Special Education. One particular position I held was that I was a substitute Spanish teacher at Van Wyck Jr. High School teaching grades 7 - 8 from February to March 2014. As a musician, before moving to the area, I was on the Executive Board of American Federation of Musicians Local 238 - 291. I have been playing French horn for 16 years and guitar for 13 years.

A Little Bit About Me...

My greatest strength as an educator has been an ability to build rapport with students and increase their desire to learn and appreciate math. I have worked with all levels and abilities of students and have shown success with all of them.
I have over 30 years experience as an educator. I have 18 years full time Math Teaching experience at the high school and middle school levels. I have taught or tutored Algebra, Algebra 2, Pre- Algebra,Geometry and a host of other high school level math courses. The rest of my experience includes 2 years as an administrator and several years as a math substitute and tutor.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always wanted students to really know the material being covered. This has meant keeping their interest through jovial yet concentrated lesson planning. I have always strived to make my students feel comfortable and to take on the responsibility for their own learning. Much too often Educators show students how to answer questions rather than helping the student learn how to handle new scenarios. This is the essence of my teaching: helping students see the big picture so that they can handle any new scenario. My classroom always has many things going on at once, which is a direct result of the student driven learning and presenting.
I received my Bachelor's degree in 1989 and worked as an assistant engineer in Binghamton NY until I started my masters program at SUNY Cortland. I have held Physics, Earth science, Chemistry and Biology appointments in the years that followed ... read more
