A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a student at East Stroudsburg University, studying special education and psychology. I am just finished my first semester of student teaching and will be completing the second one in the fall, graduating in December. I have completed several hours tutoring for college of the past 3 years. I have also had two student teaching placements already. The first was in a third grade inclusion setting and the second in a k-2 life skills room. In both settings I was teaching all subjects on several different levels.
I love working will all children, seeing their strengths and weaknesses. I feel that all children can learn you just have to find the best way to approach each student's individual learning style. Initially, I believe it is important to assess a student’s present levels. If I know at what level the student is functioning, I can then create a plan to improve the student’s skills. When I am working one-on-one with a student, I teach to the student’s strengths. I try to touch as many modalities as possible, making the concepts easier to understand and remember. I also believe it is important to build up the confidence of students by giving them opportunities for success.
