As a Facilitator for Western/Delta Air Lines, I was sent to a Training Mapping class in Los Angeles, Ca. to master writing training materials based on the Fogg Index of the trainees. I have also been a Substitute Teacher in the Fayette County School system from 2003-2008 in various grade levels (kindergarden to High School. I find every student is different & so it is up to me to be able to acclimate to a style that works best for that particular student. Learning music is not easy for someone who has never played an instrument before, so I have to present the information in a way that it is not confusing or overwhelming for the student. Being patient & listening to students is the best approach I can take when teaching new concepts. But teaching goes beyond just being patient, I strive to be positive & I’m always encouraging my students.

I believe that teaching is most effective when you give students a chance to show you what they already know. Half of teaching is simply encouraging children to be interested in their own progress and to persevere through the adversity that always follows real learning. I gage the progress of my students by asking them a lot of questions, and I give positive reinforcement whenever possible. I want to be a positive role model for every child I come across, and to participate in the process of discovery with them in a personal way. Most rewarding is the way that my students have taught me more things than I would have ever expected.
