I always attempt to explain the beauty of mathematics to my students in hopes that they will develop the same admiration of the logic and order of mathematics and science. My tutoring will generally involve a brief explanation of theory and background, followed by one or two fully worked examples (if applicable). Then exercise problems or homework questions will be worked by the student. I encourage students to memorize the procedure of a solution. However, I always ensure that the student understands why steps are being taken in a given solution, and is not simply blindly following a solution procedure. I always promote a friendly learning environment so that students feel comfortable enough to ask any questions they may have.

I was formerly a Classroom Teacher in American Schools in Kuwait City and Mexico City 2 yrs each, much earlier in my teaching career I was a teacher in public schools in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 9 years before going to Nicaragua American School to teach Chemistry in 1991. I was once involved in an adult education program with Intel Corporation in Rio Rancho and instrued courses in Mathematics including probability and statistics.

A Little Bit About Me...

During college I worked for NMSU and CYFD providing two types of tutoring services. With NMSU I worked with fellow college students in classes that I previously passed, which mainly included Accounting and Math. With CYFD I worked with young mothers trying to obtaining their GED. I helped create good study habits and tutored them in all areas included in the GED; Social Studies, Math, Language Arts, and Science. While in college I took several communication classes which had presentations in front of 100 or more students. I took intermediate algebra along with statistics and business calculus. I work with computers on a regular basis (including the internet and Microsoft Office) and have taken several advanced excel courses.
