To be an effective instructor, it is necessary to have a perfect environment; one that allows for interaction and collaboration between students and their instructor. Hence I believe that teaching should be comprised of two complementary elements: knowledge of content and ability to transfer this knowledge to a group of people. Knowing the subject is not enough, one has to be able to develop excellent communication skills that will allow you to pass on your knowledge to a diverse group of people. It is also important that when the fundamentals of the subject are presented, real world examples follow. From this, students can experience a practical application of the learning process. My primary strengths as a tutor and teacher lie in my complete understanding of the science material giving me an ability to simplify it in different ways to help others to understand. I have always learned best by working to fully grasp the logic and ideas behind each concept or topic, which I carry on to my students. When one understands the material there is less need for memorization, especially in the sciences where concepts build upon one another. Additionally, this is important to test taking conditions, enabling the student to competently tackle a broader range of potential questions and exam formats.
