I have taught both college and AP High School for college credit in the areas of Humainties, Religious Studies and English composition at three different institutions. Though I do well in large classroom settings, I prefer more personalized instruction settings. I think I would make an excellent tutor in the areas of English Composition and Literature and World History on both the high school and college level, and would likely do quite well to tutor high school French. My teaching style is friendly and approachable. I find putting a student at ease in the beginning allows them to open up to me in order for us to both find out how he or she learns best, especially since I feel learning styles vary for each individual and often differs for some subjects. For example, I may want to use pictures and art to explore history versus reading and lecture type presentations.

My teaching style is best described as a balance between a healthy relational presence and an interesting conveyor of teaching and information. In other words, I combine "popular, upbeat, and friendly" with "engrossing, unique and interesting." Sensitivity's employed in that I notice the demeanor and countenance of the learner to help the student remain hopeful, optimistic and goal-setting, or at least goal-friendly. I have a liberality in terms of classifying students: some are on the "linear, forward moving, measurable" end of the spectrum, and some are on the "organic, unique, quiet and absorbing" end.
