SOAR Study skills Group Sessions coming Spring 2013

The gift of teaching, advising, coaching, communicating and motivating was realized early in high school by school administrator of mine. After earning my Bachelors degree in Education in 1988 I taught GED,ESL,ABE, and advised law students while running the library. A Little Bit About Me...

My BS is in Social Work and my MAT is in Elementary Education. Through my experience as a teacher, social worker and coach I have found my passion in educating children. Teaching in a Title I classroom I specialized in working with students in need of additional help in Math and Reading. I am trained in DIBELS, Wilson, and Read Naturally. DIBELS is an assessment to show if students are on grade level. Wilson is a reading program that aids students in fluency. Read Naturally's focus is fluency, vocabulary and phonics. In Math I worked with skill groups. The students were divided into specific groups depending on the student’s weakness in a particular area of Math. I have a wide variety of experience and an innate desire to learn more about the world around me. I began my undergraduate degree in Political Science, but after taking a Biology course in California, became rather excited about the sciences.
