I believe in meeting students at their level of need, and mastering the skills needed in order to move onto higher level skills. I believe in teaching students how to develop their critical thinking skills, and teaching them the concepts needed to succeed in school and life.
I have my degree in Elementary Education. I've always believed that children learn by doing. I would rather have my students get real hands-on experience because concepts can be better attained and understood if children get real experience with it. I also believe that children learn differently from one another and a teacher should be able to accommodate the different learning styles of her or his students. One method may not work for a student, so I feel that it is the teacher's responsibility to make sure each student reaches their full potential by finding ways that will work for her/his students and then incorporate these differences in the classroom.
