A Little Bit About Me...

Students generally perform better with hands-on practice. I provide multiple opportunities for hands-on and guided practice as time permits. Associate new concepts to familiar ones. Our memories are largely associative in nature. Therefore, providing connections from new concepts back to well established ones increases our retention and recall. This is especially important in building up understanding in mathematics. Provide relevant examples. A student who is actively enaged in the lesson will learn more.
For the past two years, I have been working as an adjunct instructor and tutor in mathematics and computer information systems for a local Community College. This experience has been so fulfilling, that I am diligently pursuing a career change from Information Technology professional to teaching. I also taught mathematics for one year at a private school.

A Little Bit About Me...

I taught Physics, Algebra and Trigonometry for a local high school. From that point, the bulk of my career was as an engineer, nuclear, mechanical and electrical. I have a number of years in Project Management. I also have four years of experience teaching at a Technical College, where taught College Math, Computer Science and Accounting.
Teaching through positive re-enforcement. Present concept, allow student to demonstrate understanding, and then use a step-by-step approach to find out where lack of understanding occurs. The instructor should always be as positive as possibe and try to make learning as enjoyable as possible.

I always wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. After earning both undergraduate and graduate degree in education, I taught first grade in both public and Christian schools for 5 years. I attended many Professional Development courses and applied new knowledge to my classroom. I also spent close to two years as an Educational Consultant and trainer for Houghton Mifflin Publishing Company in Asia from 2006-2008. Teaching is an exciting profession for me. I believe all kids including the most intellectually disabled can learn. I believe in setting high but realistic goals for students. Learning starts before children enter school and should be integrated between home and school. I am a firm believer in laying strong foundations in the lower grades, and building upon this as the child develops.
