I have experience with teaching adults how to read at my local literacy organization. Also, I have tutored children with Reading and Math. I was a substitute teacher for students from Pre Kindergarten through High School with different subjects and disciplines. I can freely tutor others because of the experiences that I have had while earning my degrees. Helping others learn is a passion of mine.

I've taken early childhood education courses before, and worked hands on in a preschool, in which I put together lesson plans and taught to the class. I'm also the oldest of five, and grew up with a big family. I have found that reward goes much farther than ridicule or punishment when motivating a student to believe in themselves, and thus excel. I also teach the importance of information. What I mean by that, is that I teach the student why the information they are learning is relevant to the real world, I don't teach to a test. Positive reinforcement is the key. When a student sees that an adult is taking an honest interest in them, then they are not only more willing to learn, but more able. Telling a child "I know you can do it" instead of "you can do better than that" is imperative. Even the most tempermental or unmotivated student can be helped as long as that personal connection is there. I have always found that boosting their self-confidence, and thus reducing their stress/frustration level can work wonders.
