A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is my passion. I find that the single most important factor in being successful while working with children is getting to know them. When you get to know a student and what his or her interests are you get a glimpse into how they learn. Every time I teach I ensure that my lessons are student oriented. I incorporate the student's interests as much as possible. When students are engaged they tend to learn better. All students have the potential to excel. Sometimes all it takes is a little extra attention and explanation that the general classroom teacher may not have the time to give.

I am a person who believes that all children have unlimited potential. Sometimes they just need someone to believe in them, especially when they don't believe or stop believing in themselves. I know that I was meant to work with children and make a positive difference in their lives. I am smart, understanding, and very down to earth. I believe that teachers, counselors, parents, peers, and family are the most important influences in a child's life. I also believe that it is the responsibility of everyone in this world to teach children how to be honest, hard-working, and to always look at things from an empathetic point of view. A Little Bit About Me...

As an Academic All-American and SUNY Chancellor Award winner, I've always valued education. I tutored writing and englisg-related topics in college. I also was a state certified hunter safety instructor for two years. I spent 8 years teaching life and social skills to developmentally disabled adults and even was able to get one to craft his own poetry, which we both found very rewarding.
I believe the best teaching involves personal attention to that in which the student's interests lie. Helping a student to see how a topic can have impact on his life will make the course relevent and help engage the youngster. I also believe in encouragement at each step and making a "big deal" about each success. I see myself as a mentor who wants the next generation to be better than my generation - pay it forward.
