A Little Bit About Me...
Learning requires practice, so I emphasize practice to mastery, following Kumon. In tutoring, it is usually the case that the students can learn most of the subject without a tutor, but that each student who has difficulty has a difficulty not shared by most other students, hence not covered in class or homework. For tutoring, I learn what the students can already do well, what they can do with difficulty, and what they can't do yet, and I learn what is limiting their next progress. That is where I focus our efforts. Most of what you can learn in mathematics you can teach yourself by following the teacher's guidance and reading the textbook. My main goal is to teach you how to teach yourself, and to instill in you a confidence to rely on your teaching yourself more and more. My goal is for you to learn to learn without needing my help.
