I have taught overseas and in the United States from 1984 until June of 2014 teaching students from all over the world including the US, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, China, Thailand, Poland, Palestine, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama, and other places that may have slipped my mind. Over the past six months I have been substitute teaching while pursuing my master's degree in elementary education. I am an avid reader and have experience, though not professional experience, in teaching children to read and write proficiently. I am patient, considerate, and able to adapt to each child's way of learning to be able to help them understand what it is that they are trying to learn. As a UNCP alumnus, I currently hold a BS in Biology. I have tutored peers in the past during my second year at UNCP. Subjects that I am familiar are science and math. I have been a teacher in the Hoke County school district for 3 years now. I taught 5th grade for one year, then moved to second grade for the past two years. I have taught all subjects and have worked with students of various levels and abilities from Kindergarten through High school.
