I have completed all courses for my Associates Degree and was a trainer at my previous position. When in high school, I was a college preparatory student and graduated with a high school Diploma as well as 12 Advanced Placement courses and completed my International Baccalaureate diploma.
I love teaching all grades and levels. The most important aspect of teaching is to know your student. Each individual learns in different ways, some are tactile learners, some are visual, and some are auditory learners. Incorporating all aspects into my teaching style assists the retention of the material. It also has to be relatable to the student, so we have to use relevant examples that they understand. All children can learn any subject if you can spark their interest. There is no better feeling than seeing the light turn on and the sense of accomplishment in a child's eyes.

For me, there's nothing better than seeing that light of understanding and excitement come over someone's face when they solve a problem (like math) or suddenly comprehend a subject they were having trouble with (like how to write a paper). And it doesn't matter what the age is; anyone can learn. I'm very patient, but I don't take nonsense from anyone either. They have to be as serious about learning as I am about teaching.

My teaching style would best be described as conversational at best, drawing out of the student, their knowledge or lack of knowledge. I have taught my two honors student sons that I add to their body of knowledge and they are to coalesce the information to their understanding.
Having a degree in Philosophy & Religion has many advantages in teaching. I have found to better understand a subject it is best to go and study many different resources for that subject, a macro-view. However the complicated subject is, a person who knows that subject will be able to present it in a simple concise manner. With this approach I am able to study and present a variety of subjects in a concise but exciting manner. I love learning math and science and I enjoy sharing the same love of learning with my students. I like seeing the look on their face when they really get it! Students requiring tutoring are sometimes in academic distress and have anxiety therefore I have a more easy going and patient style of tutoring than most. I believe I'm an effective tutor because I remember the exact same difficulties and questions I had as a student and can relate to their frustration.
