Tutoring is not just about improving grades, although that is the most obvious result. It is about allowing the student to feel the pride of success, and learn how to transfer newly learned skills in one subject to other unrelated subjects. I truly believe that every student can be successful. Sometimes the pathway to success is not always visible to the student; a competent teacher can point the way. It is extremely rewarding as an educator to open up that pathway to the student, especially so in the sciences. Teaching comes easy to me because I was taught very well. In high school I was the president of the FTA club where we would go to local elementary and middle schools to educate children of all educational capacity and mental handicaps. Patience is a valuable skill I had to develop early on, as well as many others, in working with children. My teaching method is to first take the teaching subject(s) and break them down into correlating groups.
