I believe that each child's talents and abilities need to be nurtured through creative and constructive curriculum and delivery, including acknowledging the importance of integrating playtime with instruction. I have worked in many educational environments - public and private schools; juvenile detention facilities and home school cooperatives - each place offering it's own rules and protocol for developing and nurturing a child. My teaching style is based on student needs and abilities. I feel that every child is capable of learning and enjoying music as well as any other subject. A students progress is determined by their learning rate based upon their maturity level. Students learn at levels and must master one level before attempting a higher level. Therefore, as a teacher I try to provide instruction that meets a students needs and instruction that progresses according to a students mastery of necessary skills.

Literally all my life I have been asked by students, parents and teachers to help students who were having trouble. I get tremendous fulfillment from watching someone who has been frustrated finally "get it." In addition to teaching music lessons, tutoring all subjects, and homeschooling my own two children, I have worked for the last 17 years with a private school. There I have taught a wide variety of subjects, but they depend on me the most heavily for high school sciences and maths. I am currently a registered substitute teacher, state certified to teach music and high school math, and I am working toward certification in more subjects.
