I am a recent graduate of East Tennessee State University. I have a degree in Elementary Education and a teaching license in Tennessee and South Carolina. I have worked in an after school program for 4 years with pre-school (3 years) to 6th grade. I was a substitute for 5 months for kindergarten through 12th grade. I'm energetic and like to find fun ways to teach children. I'm creative, artistic, and enthusiastic.
I have enjoyed working with children for a number of years. They are fun and truely like to learn. Watching a child actually discover what is being taught is absolutely amazing. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching very much. I think a strength trying to use a student's active content or prior knowledge to connect to material. My attempts are always to make the student feel empowered by the education process. If you can connect to way what they are into, either cartoons, hip-hop, popular culture, with conservative humor, then sometimes you can gain their understanding much quicker. As a teacher, classroom experiences have made me realize all students do not learn the same fashion. Some students are more aggressive and advanced but there are those who are silent and will not speak out about difficulties understanding competencies. I prefer not to embarrass those students but give them the opportunity to learn one-on-one. While some students have a difficult time with teacher/student ratio, I like to give the option of working with another student who may understand the content and can teach another peer.
