When the conventional has not worked!!!

Student-centered, Co-intentional. I believe that the key to learning is the motivation to want to learn. Once that has been accomplished, just stand back and guide the student to what they want next.
I have worked in schools in Kentucky and Ohio. I have been a tutor, intervention aide, long term substitute teacher, and regular classroom teacher. I communicate freely with my students, and am always ranked among the most well-liked and effective instructors by my students. My best skill is helping students find what is in it for them to learn and use the material. I currently teach (adjunct) at a career College where I teach English, history, strategies for success, and communications classes.

A Little Bit About Me...

Very student based instruction, focused on helping the student come to the answer him/herself.
I have two Bachelor's degrees and a law degree. I am qualified to teach all areas of social sciences, and comfortable with most subjects through the high school level. I have had experience with tutoring through employment as a nanny. I had very strong scores on both the ACT and LSAT and feel confident that my instruction in those areas would be very beneficial to students.

I enjoy working with all age groups. When working with older students I typically use a teaching style that involves asking the student a series of questions such that the student ends up answering their own question through deductive reasoning. I have found that a student utilizing this pedagogical method not only tends to more effectively remember the answers to the questions but understands the thought process that allowed them to arrive at those answers. I have also found that students are better able to pay attention for longer amounts of time with this active learning style as opposed to simply listening to a lecturer.
