In addition to currently being a substitute teacher for the Missouri State Schools teaching a variety of subjects, I have tutored elementary students in all subjects for one year. Through another employer, I worked closely with two students to improve grade performance in writing and math. Also, I have worked as a group facilitator for about six months where I taught adults basic living skills and tutored them to help them obtain a G.E.D. I have also earned two associate degrees; AA in Education from Jefferson College and an AS in Interior Design from Patricia Stevens College. It has been my experience that each student has his/her individuals needs and that each learns differently. Thus, I make a conscious effort to sit down privately with each of my students so that we can address his/her concerns effectively and put together a constructive plan to improve his/her skill set. As a tutor with Webster University's student literacy corps, I worked with individuals, pre-K-adult, on reading, literacy, and writing skills. I held this position for two years along with a summer position tutoring Algebra and French with HEC Upward Bound, which service at-risk youth.
