A Little Bit About Me...

As an educator, especially in mathematics, I want my students to not just arrive at the right answer, but understand the process, as well. I want students to have a solid foundation in number theory. I also want them to see the connection between the more elementary levels of mathematics and the more abstact higher levels. I usually spend some time and effort working on the organizational skills of the student, especially if I notice a weakness there. Many times the lack of those organizational skills becomes a detriment to math problem solving. I believe in using whatever means is available to engage the student in the learning process, always keeping in mind the particular learning style, or styles, the student possesses.

A Little Bit About Me...

It has been my experience that each student has his/her individuals needs and that each learns differently. Thus, I make a conscious effort to sit down privately with each of my students so that we can address his/her concerns effectively and put together a constructive plan to improve his/her skill set.
As a tutor with Webster University's student literacy corps, I worked with individuals, pre-K-adult, on reading, literacy, and writing skills. I held this position for two years along with a summer position tutoring Algebra and French with HEC Upward Bound, which service at-risk youth. I found both programs extremely enjoyable and found that all of my students were eager to learn and improve their skill set.
