I started teaching in 1970 as a K-8 substitute, continuing until being hired by a private school in 1975. I then taught full time in East LA. Upon moving to Wa. and being certified here, I taught in several schools in differing cultural settings untill recently starting my own business in Newport. I have also tutored and graded math praxis. I enjoy working with children and get a kick from seeing a discovery or understanding in a students eyes. I've had the opportunity to collect numerous bio. samples for hands on experience. I have also taken workshops in the workings of google earth as a teaching tool along with mapping and watershed principles.I feel I have benn successful in elightening many student's lives.

Teaching children of all ages is my passion. A few of my skills include the ability to be able to communicate with children on a level they understand, assess their learning style, and provide access to materials that will enhance their learning. Because I have taught at the Homelink program for so long and have worked with children of all ages, I feel comfortable with any age or learning style, and am very patient. Children learn through discovery, and that is how I teach. I graduated with honors from Eastern Washington University and began teaching in the public school in Newport. Although I value my college degree in biology and formal education, my real love for learning and teaching has been honed over the years teaching my own kids at home. I've homeschooled them in every general subject for the last eight years. I have developed a love and knowledge for history, government, the sciences, writing, and mathematics up through algebra. I feel confident in tutoring childen in these topics up through the high school years. I have experience teaching children with attention deficit problems and high energy levels.
