I have over 10 years of tutoring experience. I began tutoring at the elementary level in 2001 and continued till 2006 when i graduated college. After graduation i continued tutoring elementary and college students, and have since prepared students for sevreral examination such as GRE, GMAT and SAT. My original degree was in English with a minor in Spanish. I received my teaching certification in 1979 in Secondary English/Spanish. I taught adult ESL part time for 2 years in the evenings. After a taste in this field, I began teaching in ESL and have taught 9 years in public schools. With one school district I also had a class helping students with the English part of the TAAS test. During the rest of my career I taught Spanish which was also 9 years. I believe the first thing you need to do is to find out what the student needs help with. At times I have used music, poetry, or computer programs to get the students attention. Repetition is very helpful and note cards are good for memorization. When i was at the University, I used to be a professor assistant, and used to help students with their signatures. From 2006-2008 i started at Houston Community College as a Faculty professor for Spanish and math. My teaching style is very graphis, with many examples and supported by adio/visual tools to accomplish all the teaching goals. I have assisted children with math deficiencies in the past. Just after graduation I started to work at an engineering consulting company as a project engineer. This position gave me the opportunity to concentrate in engineering design and project management.
