I have taught English and Reading for over 30 years. I have currently employed as a GED Instructor for WWISCAA organization. I have taught middle school and secondary English and reading. I am also certified in curriculum and instruction and a virtual online facilitator. I graduated from college in 1979, but i have continued my education and have gotten 2 master's degrees. i am currently working on my PHD in curriculum and instruction. As an Honor graduate with a bachelors of arts in sociology, I have an extensive knowledge of various subjects. Some of the major areas of my degree that i am very familiar with includes: history, social science, american government, and spanish. I have also tutored 9th-12th grade students in history and english with Upward Bound at MVSU. My degree also enabled me to obtain extensive research and writing skills. I am a very patient and understanding person. I believe that patience is very necessary when trying to educate any person. I have just recently graduated with my Masters from Ole Miss. I will begin my PhD in the fall. I have taught Health classes at the University for the past two years. I have much experience in math, science, and english with my past two degrees. I have tutored students in math, english, and science. I love to work with children who are eager to learn. I know that for most children having to study is not their top priority, so I try to make it fun. I am patient, and know that learning often takes repetition. I believe that most children have the power to learn, some just need some one on one attention.

After I graduated high school I went to a community college just to get the feel of college. I decided to major in speech because I was interested in correct speech. Not only how words were pronounced but also what mechanisms that are used to produce correct speech. I went on to Delta State University to pursue my Bachelor's in Speech and Hearing, and might I add they had a spectacular program. I learned a lot more than what makes a person have a speech disorder. I tutored at the local elementary school for two summers straigth and absolutely loved it. Children are a joy to work with becuase they are eager to learn. I feel that if you make it interesting for a child then their learning experience becomes something that they won't forget.
