In 2001, I received my certification in Elementary Education from CCSU. I then substitute taught for the town of West Hartford for 2 years while I got married and had my son. He had a lot of health problems so the decision was made for me to stay home with him. When it came to Kindergarten he still had many health issues so we thought it was best to keep him home and I began to Homeschool him. Homeschooling has worked well for him and his younger sisters so I have continued even though his health is far better. He is now entering 6th grade. My oldest daughter is 9 years old and beginning 6th grade math and 5th grade Language Arts. My 3 year old daughter is learning to read and my 16 month old daughter is along for the ride. My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : Can use montessori materials to help develop strong skills.

I have led several workshops about differentiation and developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood educators and parents over the last couple of years. I have been tutoring for elementary aged students for ten years now. Parents have seen real academic gains through the tutoring approach I take. To overcome areas of difficulty I follow children’s interests and talents. For some children I use Montessori didactic teaching materials to extend students learning. I maintain ongoing records of assessment and observation’s for each child that I tutor for. A typed report about tutoring activities and student progress is given to each parent for each tutoring session.
