I began tutoring privately,as well as,for my school's learning center during the early 1990's. I have continued tutoring privately on and off for the past twenty years. I was a substitute teacher in California and Michigan during the 2000's. I also had my own high school level classroom in California for two school years. I was hired on an "Emergency Credential" because I had my BS but no teaching credential. I was laid off due to budget cuts in June of 2003. I also taught "at-risk" elementary age children during the summer for the Glendora Unifed School District in Glendora, CA. My comments on tutoring Genetics : I interned at U of M Flint in cancer research for a summer. I taught high school science at a private school for two years, and tutored many students in science for about five years now. My bachelors degree is in science and I have taken a variety of science courses.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint with a Bachelor of Science and teacher certification degree. I student taught during the fall '09 semester. Student teaching provided many opportunities to work on various teaching techniques. The student teaching semester consisted of; leading the class in discussion on a daily basis, creating worksheets, conducting lab experiments and other activities, grading homework and tests, and much more. I created and taught four lessons during the observation semester. I have also been involved in teaching and tutoring a college chemistry class under the supervision of a college professor.

A Little Bit About Me...

My passion is in watching others to succeed, and I am willing to change my own methods to make that happen. Thus, my tutoring style depends almost entirely on the student as I have found that the most common reason a tutor is needed is that the student's learning style does not match with the teacher's teaching style. I can tutor through examples, visually drawing concepts, talking, describing the reasons behind a concept, and most importantly, I can relate almost every subject to daily life.
I began officially tutoring four years ago, starting up a private tutoring business. Through it, I have taught ages 5 through 55 in nearly all subjects, including mathematics, science, physics, ACT, and English. I also have tutored publicly at Oakland University for one year, where I earned my tutoring certification (level 1).
