I have been teaching dance to children and young adults for the last 10 years. However I pride myself on teaching my students more than the physical elements of dancing. My goal is to excite students about learning. I encourage my own children as well as those I teach in the classroom to focus first on finding at least one concept in each lesson that attracts them and about which they would like to know more. This philosophy helps to eliminate the student's perception that "I hate math" or "I'm not good at science." Secondly, I use text-to-self and text-to-world relationships to get students to recognize the broader application of subjects.
