I have taught internship classes and tutored statistics at the University level. I have tutored mathematics from elementary to calculus at a junior college. I have been a GRE instructor for the Stanley Kaplan company I founded, owned and operated the Idaho School of Professional Hypnosis for 10 years, teaching hypnosis and hypnotherapy at a professional level. I believe that teaching through lecture and hands-on activities is the most effective. A student that is capable of "teaching" the teacher a lesson and explaining the subject in their own words will have a greater understanding of the subject. When I teach and tutor I explain to the student the topic in my words, and then continue to ask for feedback until the student is capable of explaining the lesson in their own words.
While attending law school, I spent 2 full academic years tutoring first year law students. I tutored property and constitutional law. It was through tutoring that I was able to help several students improve their grades, both through emotional support and exceptional knowledge in the subjects. I enjoy learning new things and sharing that knowledge with others.

I have been translating complicated ideas into a language/format that others can understand since kindergarten. I have always enjoyed the process. As a college student at Carnegie Mellon University, I started working at Sylvan Learning Center as a math tutor specializing in Algebra and Calculus. As a graduate student in mechanical engineering, I have much experience in the math and science fields including experimental methods. I have written many technical conference papers as well as presented them to researchers around the country. I believe in identifying the learning style of the student which can take some time with some. Are they a visual learner I draw pictures, maps, charts and video; if an audio learner tapes, lecture, youtube, video, etc,.. and if a kinesthetic learner then they need the hands on experience to develop the learning that is needed, so then standing back to guide the thought process without doing it for them.
I started as an Adjunct Instructor at ISU for the Geomatics Engineering program for the 2007-2008 school year. Prepare for class setup the curriculum, homework, grading and test for 10-12 students. Tutoring began for me at Montana State University-Northern while attending school majoring in Pre-Med. I worked at Student Support Services for five semesters tutoring mostly science based classes. I have a unique approach to teaching because my background is both analytical (numbers and science) and imaginative (theater and literature). While classroom training is my forte, I also have a solid background in teaching online. This combination is particularly useful since no two children learn in the same way. I do not believe any student is dumb. If he or she has struggled picking up a concept, it is more likely because the right method of teaching has not yet been explored. A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children, as I have coached or tutored school aged children for the last six years. This has taught me to be very patient as well as given me the ability to approach a subject from three or four different angles until the student gets it. I often ask many questions in an attempt to get the student to come to conclusions on their own, rather than me telling them outright. This allows the student to put things in their own terms, a process which I believe allows for a deeper understanding of the material.
