Though I have only been teaching with the schools since 2011, I have been teaching on-and-off since 1985. I am a certified Martial Arts instructor and have taken my teaching methods from this, my military time, and even my life experiences. I believe that whatever we are learning that the classroom environment needs to stay fun and flowing smoothly. While attending law school, I spent 2 full academic years tutoring first year law students. I tutored property and constitutional law. It was through tutoring that I was able to help several students improve their grades, both through emotional support and exceptional knowledge in the subjects. I enjoy learning new things and sharing that knowledge with others.
I believe that teaching through lecture and hands-on activities is the most effective. A student that is capable of "teaching" the teacher a lesson and explaining the subject in their own words will have a greater understanding of the subject. I started as an Adjunct Instructor at ISU for the Geomatics Engineering program for the 2007-2008 school year. Prepare for class setup the curriculum, homework, grading and test for 10-12 students. I went to ITT Technical Institute following that and was offered to Chair School of Drafting & Design. I taught and ran the department for 2 years. I was in charge of 4-10 teachers and 170+ students.
I believe in identifying the learning style of the student which can take some time with some. Are they a visual learner I draw pictures, maps, charts and video; if an audio learner tapes, lecture, youtube, video, etc,.. and if a kinesthetic learner then they need the hands on experience to develop the learning that is needed, so then standing back to guide the thought process without doing it for them.

Initially, I like to find out the basics. I want to know their underlying assumptions in any part of academia, whether it's math or science. I have come to find that the very simplest of assumptions can mislead students. I like to start each problem with a new set of assumptions, or a "given", "find", and "solution" step-by-step process.
